Travel 3km south on the Boyup Brook / Kojonup Road(S) and turn left into Asplin Siding Road (G) where you will enjoy the rolling farmland and, when in season, many wildflowers on parts of the roadside. When you reach the ‘T’ at the sealed road take a right turn towards Dinninup. Here you can see a 20 metre long mural celebrating 92 years of history of the Upper Blackwood Agricultural Society. Continuing straight ahead you see the oldest hall still standing (brick/iron), in the Shire , built in 1907. The Showground (S 33° 48’ 46.6” – E 116° 32’ 38.5”) has facilities for loading horses, shelter, toilets and water. The district show is held here each year in November on Melbourne Cup Day . Coming up on your right is the town site of Dinninup where the old store (S 33° 48’ 46.6” – E 116° 32’ 50.9”) still stands in the main street and where a number of families continue to reside. Return to the Boyup Brook / Arthur Road and 2km from the corner, turn right into Area Road (G) and enjoy a drive through farm land and roadsides of wildflowers (in season) ending at a ‘T’ junction. Turn right into Kulikup North/South Road (G) to find the Kulikup Town site where some houses remain occupied and the store (S 33° 49’ 36” – E 116° 40’ 41.5”) still stands Retrace your steps along the Kulikup South/North Road for 15km will bring you to Eulin Crossing Road (G). Turn left. Here, many opportunities to see wildflowers in season exist and, a camping/picnic site (S 33° 42’ 04” – E 116° 40’27.9”) provides an opportunity to stop in a tranquil spot on the Blackwood River for a tea break.
Stay on Eulin Crossing Road (G) until you reach the sealed road which is the Boyup Brook / Arthur Road. At this ‘T’ junction turn left to begin the return to Boyup Brook. After approximately 18 Km turn right into the Condinup Crossing Road (G) and follow it to the ‘T’ junction at Gibbs Road. Along the way you will be driving through the Condinup Reserve where wildflowers are seen, in season, if you choose to stop and walk around. Turn left at Gibbs Road and find the Gregory Tree (S 33° 46’ 49.5” – E 116° 29’ 56.8”). Only the stump remains. It is roofed and has historical details on a plaque behind the tree stump. Augustus Charles Gregory, whose boss was John Septimus Roe, was an important early surveyor of the Upper Blackwood River Valley and later a recognised explorer of the North West of Western Australia and extensive areas of the eastern states. Continue along Gibbs Road to the sealed road, turn right and in about 5 km you will be in the middle of Harvey Dickson’s Country Music Centre on your left and the Harvey Dickson Rodeo Centre on your right (S 33° 48’ 26” – E 116° 25’ 18.6”). Viewing this truly unique complex should be considered a must visit experience ph: 9765 1125 to be sure of access. (entry fee applies). Visiting the Boyup Brook Cemetery a short distance (left side) after leaving Harvey’s will provide an opportunity to explore the history of past residents before driving into Town.
