From Boyup Brook travel on Terry Road (S→ G) to the first of the Blackwood River crossings known as Willanarup Crossing. Continue along this route to cross Jayes Crossing over the Blackwood River, after which is a ‘T’ junction into Jayes Road (G). Turn to your left to cross Jayes Bridge. Immediately over the bridge is a picnic area with toilet and picnic table and a cairn dedicated to the site of the Old Jayes Hall, the first public building in the district and the first nonprivate meeting place for the Upper Blackwood Roads Board. Return west on Jayes Road back over the bridge and look out for Lodge Road(G) on your left. This road is a nothrough road and not an easy drive so slow and steady is the rule. Here can be seen river rocks deposited by a glacier in ancient times. This Glacial Rock-Deposit, being part of the Kirup Conglomerate exists on private property with no access for visitors but loose ones (they look like river washed rocks) can be seen in the paddocks and along the roadside close to its end at the farm gate.

The depth of this amazing dump of rocks is unknown and it is many kilometres long in a great curve reaching from Mayanup across the landscape to near Kirup on the South Western Highway. Return to Jayes Road and continue west until you reach Flax Road(G), turn left to ultimately intersect with Winnejup Road (sealed but narrow and winding – drive with care; keep a look out for farm machinery). Turn left into Winnejup Road and drive until you reach the Winnejup Bridge – Immediately over the bridge is Hamilton Road (G) to the right. Taking this will bring you to soon turn right into Wheatley Rd( G). The road is very scenic following the Blackwood River, with a section wending its way through farmland with steep hills and valleys, right angle bends and cattle pits. You may encounter cattle resting on the road but slowly creeping forward will usually encour-age them to move out of the way. Be patient.!! Do NOT blow your horn!!!
