The Southern Forests Trout Festival returns to the beautiful Big Brook Dam in Pemberton on Sunday, 11 October 2026, celebrating its fifth year of bringing families, anglers and the wider community together for a great day outdoors.
Hosted by the Southern Forests Freshwater Angling Club in partnership with Recfishwest, this free, family-friendly community event celebrates freshwater fishing while showcasing the beautiful Southern Forests region.
A highlight of the festival is the 10am trout release, where families can get involved in releasing trout into Big Brook Dam. The day also features free Recfishwest kids’ fishing clinics and rod hire, fly fishing demonstrations and local fishing clubs.
There is plenty to enjoy away from the water too, with face painting, Rangers Red Zoo, a sausage sizzle, coffee, ice cream and refreshments available throughout the morning.
The festival runs from 9am to 1pm at the Big Brook Dam foreshore and picnic area, Pemberton.
Bring the whole family and enjoy a great day outdoors at one of Pemberton’s much-loved community events.
Please note: EFT reception at Big Brook Dam is limited, so visitors are encouraged to bring cash.
