Boyup Brook boasts a fascinating heritage that is deeply rooted in the region’s past. Our building is the second oldest in the Shire and was constructed in 1910 as the ‘Agricultural Hall’. It has served in many different capacities over the years and has been the home of the Visitor Information Centre since 1987. Step inside our Visitor Centre to delve into the captivating stories of the area.

Boyup Brook is renowned for its Collections. In the Visitor Information Centre we house the following collections, and have brochures on many others you can visit during your stay;

  • The Keith Carnaby Beetle & Butterfly Collection – the only place in Australia that you can view any part of this amazing collection.
  • Ivan Carnaby Birds Eggs, of Carnaby Cockatoo fame
  • The Kradals Doll Collection – Part of a comprehensive collection accumulated over 20 years by Ede Tuckett
  • A display of Gemstones of Western Australia
  • Kirup Conglomerate Rocks – ancient, rounded rocks. Possibly from glacial melt at least 1 million years ago.
  • Aboriginal Artefacts found locally
