Looking for an exciting and educational outing? Located in the heart of the South West, the Greenbushes Mine Lookout offers a bird’s eye view of the world’s largest lithium mine.
The Public Mine Lookout is popular with the local community and visitors and overlooks the Cornwall Pit where tantalum ore was extracted in open cut mining until 2003. The portal to the former underground mining operations is situated at the base of the Cornwall Pit. A new Central Lode open cut pit, south of the Cornwall Pit, is now the focus of surface mining.
Open daily, it provides easy to understand and readily available information about the operations via display panels. The lookout is visited by thousands of people each year and provides one of the few opportunities in Western Australia for the public to view an operational mine site. Wheelchair and disabled access is provided at the lookout. There is progressive seating on the walk ramp; with a gazebo, undercover seating and information panels at the top.
