The Greenbushes Discovery Centre has partnered with the Blackwood Basin Group to develop the Waterbird Walk.

The walk begins at the Greenbushes Pool and includes information on flora, fauna and the history of the area around Spring Gully and Schwenker’s Dam which is being developed as a wetland suitable for wading birds such as the endangered bittern species.

This is an easy trail that follows single file bush tracks and vehicle tracks. It crosses the dam wall for Schwenker’s Dam and incorporates a boardwalk across the middle of the dam. The walk commences at Greenbushes Pool, crosses a forest track and goes either straight ahead or to the left.

It is an interesting walk with information signage, a sculpture and plenty of birds around for the interested watchers. Enjoy the track as it passes through Jarrah, Marri, and Paperbark forests.
