Shannon Horse Camp is a large fenced area for camping with horses at the trailhead for the Shannon National Park bridle trails.
Booking
Bookings are essential and can be made up to 180 days (approximately six months) before arrival and for one campsite only.
If you are an outdoor education provider, licensed commercial tour operator or are organising an event (friends, family and other social groups camping together does not constitute an event), contact Parks and Wildlife Service Donnelly District Office (Pemberton) to discuss your requirements.
Campsites
The campground has no marked campsites or power. Camp in any suitable vacant space in the campground on arrival.
Facilities
Horse yards, hitching rails, water taps (not suitable for human consumption without treatment) and compost bays.
Communal use fire pits.
At the adjacent Shannon Campground:
Drinking water is not provided. Water may be available but supply is not guaranteed and treatment is required to make safe for consumption.
Toilets.
Showers. Add content on heating – including firewood and any seasonal restrictions.
Chemical toilet dump point.
Sheltered food preparation area with gas barbecue, dishwashing sink and food preparation surfaces.
Communal use fire pits.
Campground Rules
Campers with horses only.
Campfires when conditions permit and in the provided communal fire ring only. Usual permitted season: May – November.
Chopped firewood may be available. Bring your own in case none is available. Collecting firewood and kindling is not permitted in national parks and other conservation reserves.
Dogs are not permitted.
Generator use is not permitted between 9am.
Do not empty chemical toilet waste into campground toilets. Use the dump point at Shannon Campground carry waste out of the park for disposal in an authorised dump point.
Dispose of non-toilet waste in the bins provided at Shannon campground or carry out of the park.
Safety information
Drinking water is not provided.
December to April can be very hot and the risk of bushfire can be very high.
Nights can be cold from June to September.
Storms are common between May and October throughout WA.
Ensure you have sufficient supplies (including water, food, fuel, medication and first aid), and equipment and clothing appropriate for the conditions before travelling.
