Located within the Scott River region near Nannup, Kookaburra Stopover is a remote self-reliant stopover along the Warren Blackwood Stock Route, providing riders with a quiet place to rest while travelling through the forests and farmland landscapes of the Southern Forests & Valleys.
As one of the self-reliant stopovers on the trail, Kookaburra Stopover is designed for experienced riders who are fully prepared to carry their own supplies, camping equipment, food, water, horse feed, and emergency provisions. The stopover offers a simple bush setting that allows riders to experience the natural beauty, isolation, and heritage character of the historic stock route.
Kookaburra Stopover is ideal for riders seeking a more remote trail experience before continuing toward the fully equipped equine campsites further along the route.

Kookaburra Stopover is a basic self-reliant stopover and includes:
- Informal rest area for riders and horses
- Space for temporary camping
- Trail marker signage and route information
Please note:
- No toilets are provided
- No formal shelters are available
- No guaranteed water supply is available
- Riders must carry all required supplies and remove all rubbish from the site

Kookaburra Stopover provides riders with an opportunity to ease into the trail before continuing toward the fully equipped equine campsites further along the route.

Mobile phone coverage can be limited or unreliable in this area and riders should not rely solely on mobile reception while travelling the trail.
Before travelling, riders are strongly encouraged to:
- Carry maps and navigation tools
- Inform someone of their travel plans and expected arrival times
- Carry emergency and first aid equipment
- Carry sufficient food and water supplies for both rider and horse
- Carry a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) where possible
- Ensure horses are adequately prepared for remote long-distance trail conditions
Water, Fire & Emergency Information
No guaranteed water supply is available at Kookaburra Stopover. Riders must carry sufficient water supplies for themselves and their horses, particularly during warmer months and dry conditions.
Campfires are only permitted in accordance with current fire restrictions and Total Fire Ban requirements. Riders should check local fire conditions before travelling and never leave fires unattended.
